Privacy policy
This is a draft for milestone 1. Have privacy counsel review before launch. It describes our intended practices so design and engineering build the right controls now.
What we collect
- Search inputs you enter (names, numbers, emails, addresses).
- Account details you provide (name, email, billing info via our payment processor — we never store full card numbers).
- Usage data (pages visited, device and browser type) to improve search quality and prevent abuse.
How we use it
- To return matches and reports you request.
- To process payments, prevent fraud, and enforce our Terms (including FCRA limits).
- To answer support requests and send service emails such as trial reminders.
What we never do
- We never notify the person you searched.
- We never sell your search history or account data to data brokers.
- We never use report contents for advertising targeting.
Your controls
- Opt out of our directory at any time on our opt-out page — free, processed in about 72 hours.
- Request access, correction, or deletion of your account data via support@peopledetails.com.
- California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, and Utah residents: submit do-not-sell/share and deletion requests through our contact page with the subject “Privacy request.”
Retention & security
Search history is kept in your account until you delete it. Public-record content refreshes from vendors; suppression requests persist across refreshes. Data is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.2+) and at rest, with least-privilege employee access and audit logging.
